Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
In his spare time, he enjoys learning new things, auditing the Linux kernel source code, and writing SystemTap scripts. SystemTap is an utility that "provides free software infrastructure to simplify the gathering of information about the running Linux system."
"This year, I decided to do something different. Since I am involved in the Fedora project as an ambassador, I thought it would be interesting to organise a Fedora miniconf, share knowledge, and meet fellow Fedora and non-Fedora users," he says.
Asked whether it was correct to infer that the Fedora project was inspired by the success of the Debian project, Teo did not bite. "The Fedora project was founded in 2003 when Red Hat merged their open development process with the pre-existing Fedora Linux project," he said.
Would a miniconf like this help the commercial side of things? Teo says he took the initiative to organise the Fedora mini-conf so that fellow Fedora users could meet one another, share new technologies, and learn new things.
"Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a derivative Linux distribution based on Fedora. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux may learn new technologies that they can potentially relate, experiment, and apply in their work."
He says the Fedora project keeps track of public usage and and also the number of unique installations, but did not specify which statistic was used to measure the success or otherwise of the project.
The Fedora miniconf will be held from 9am on January 28 at the Melbourne University in Parkville.
