Although Ruslan Kogan has taken his surname and turned it into a brand name, there's clearly plenty o' cash to be made from selling existing top brands at competitively low prices, with Kogan promising 'up to 46% off' retail pricing on brands like Apple, HP and Dr Dre.
Uh-oh'¦ looks like it'll soon be time for retail dinosaur Gerry Harvey to start whinging again, this time thanks to his nemesis
Ruslan Kogan creeping even further into his territory through low, low prices.
No, there's no promises of 73 billion years interest free as you'll see from all those hardly normal retailers, just, it seems, cheap prices that you can cough up the cash for to actually own outright - without going into debt on a multi-year basis.
Of course, if you do need such incentives to buy new products, retail stores await your entry through their doors, but it's almost always better to actually own something outright, rather than co-owning it with a bank or finance company, and thankfully, we still live in a country (if not a world) where there is this little thing called 'choice', and I don't mean the magazine or association, but the actual concept - and thank Goodness, thank God, thank Gerry Freakin' Harvey and thank Ruslan Kogan for that.
So, what's all this extra choice I'm going on about? Well, it's choice in where you can buy MacBook Airs, HP and Toshiba laptops, Dr Dre headphones and even the iPhone 4S, and at what are claimed to be cheaper prices than you'll find elsewhere.
More choice could even be a Kogan slogan'¦ not that he's made that decision or anything, I'm just bestowing it upon the competitive ol' entrepreneur. I'm sure he'll come up with something catchier than that.
Anyway, RK says he can offer these lower prices 'by going higher up the supply chain, and selling direct to consumers through' his
Kogan.com.au website.
Mr Kogan also predicts growth for his company of over 500% and an expectation of AUD $100M+ revenue for 'this financial year', which he says allows his company to 'source the most popular technology at unbeatable prices'.
He specifically adds: 'The Kogan business has been growing at an extraordinary rate, we saw a 408% increase in the last quarter of 2011 from the last quarter of 2010. We're exploding in Australia and around the world.
'We've had great feedback and support globally and our rapid growth means we can continue expanding our range to offer more electronics and appliances to smart shoppers.
'We are experts at finding innovative ways to deliver the latest technology at market leading prices. Whether it be manufacturing our own Kogan brand of products or sourcing these big brands, we will always smash our competition on price and service.
'As with all products sold by Kogan, these are backed by local support and warranty.
'We only source the products we know our customers want, and will continue doing this throughout 2012. The new products joining our range are exactly what Australian online shoppers have been asking for,' Ruslan Kogan concluded.
