Sony still supplying super cool sexy gadgets

Opinion and Analysis

Apple's not the only gadget company in the world able to produce cool gadgetry, with stalwart Sony still having more than what it takes to create and deliver ever better versions of its existing products, and new ones, too!

Although some have loudly questioned Sony's ability to compete and the value of Sony's brand in a world of outsourced manufacturing, one thing is for certain: Sony keeps on reaping the benefits of its R&D, usually launching great improvements to existing product ranges year after year, while launching new products, too.

In 2010, Sony products still clearly have a quality about them that's instantly lacking in any cheap and cheerful Chinese alternative, from the stylish fit and finish to the electronics, the user interface and its ease of use.

Of course Sony has fine Japanese, Korean, Chinese, American and European competitors, some of whom also create great quality products themselves that happily compete with Sony's best, but Sony's products definitely speak for themselves - people wouldn't be willing to pay what is often a premium over competing products otherwise.

To entice people to voluntarily pay more for your products than cheaper alternatives, you need to offer users better and easier to attain benefits from the features you've improved, added or even removed from your products to strongly differentiate them from the competition.

This is something Sony has done very well over the years, across a wide range of consumer electronics and mobile technologies, and 2010 is no different.

Of course, Sony is not perfect. No company is - not Apple, nor Microsoft, nor Google or anyone else - but if you're in the market for one of the gadgets that Sony is selling, you'll probably want to know what new features, benefits and capabilities Sony has on offer to see if they're enough to tempt you into Sony product ownership.

So, what has Sony just launched into the Australian marketplace? Details on page two, please read on!
