ASUS are also known for its motherboards, with ASUS reminding us all of its “Republic of Gamers (ROG) Rampage II Extreme” model, famous for “muscle gaming” and “holder of several world records for overclocking”. This model launched late last year.
The brother of this motherboard is the new M4 Series which is designed to support the latest AMD processors. ASUS says it’s a brand new design built from the ground up which will feature a “revolutionary 8-Phase power design to fully complement the next generation processor” and will launch in early February 2009.
ASUS managed to win a few awards at CES 2009 as well, and it has not been backwards in coming forwards to introduce us to the winners.
First up is the “Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe audio card”. This card features “Protected Audio Playback Systems (PAPS) and full Advanced Access Content System (AACS) certification for non-down-sampled Blu-ray audio.”
It’s capable of “decoding Blu-ray movies and takes full advantage of lossless digital audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for professional, high-fidelity 24bit, 96-192Khz sounds.
“Equipped with a proprietary AV200 audio processor, HDMI1.3a certified Splendid HD video processor and an embedded HDMI port, the Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe delivers high definition audio and video for excellent entertainment, designed specifically for next-generation home theatre PCs (HTPCs)”. It launched late last year.
Another award winner is the “P4-P5N9300 barebone PC”. Supporting the latest graphic technologies including hybrid SLI, PhysX, and CUDA from NVIDIA; and an HDMI interface with HDCP for Full HD 1080P visuals, it has a “TBA” launched date.
Finally there’s the “ASUS TW100-E5 Quadro FX470 workstation”. It provides “providing professional-grade and certified graphics solutions for graphics-intensive applications such as AutoCAD and Adobe”. It’s capable of “Quad-Display functionality” for four screens, but also energy saving technology built-in, and was “recently launched” in Australia.
For me, the most exciting ASUS launch was the “Tablet” equipped netbooks, so I look forward to seeing these soon.
Finally, it’s nice to know that even though the world is going through an “economic crisis”, not all technology companies are pulling back, but many are still busily working away to advance our digital lifestyles.
Let’s just hope that whether economy recovers quickly or not, technological progress continues largely unabated!
