With a select group of beta testers around the world supposedly already
using the Windows 7 7000.0.081212-1400 official beta 1 build, global
impatience over the non-appearance of a torrent is reaching boiling
point – at least for some - but no download is yet available, and people are getting impatient!
The news that the “file name” for the official Windows 7 beta 1 .ISO torrent has emerged is all over the web, with one thing missing: the actual torrent itself.
Update: A supposedly real, yet still pirated edition of Windows 7 beta 1 has hit the torrents, please
click here for all the details! The original story continues below.
Screenshots of the supposed build are available at plenty of sites, one at random is
BlogsDNA.
The details I’ve seen at sites over and over again is that the DVD ISO File name for the 7000 build is: 7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULFRE_EN_DVD.iso
The file size is supposed to be: 2618793984 bytes (2.44 GB)
The MD5 Checksum Hash is supposed to be: f9dce6ebd0a63930b44d8ae802b63825
The “
runwin7fromusb” site at blogspot.com lists the same information, and some of the commenters have had fun playing a joke on eager Windows 7 would-be downloaders.
The commenters say they’ve found a “hidden door” on the page that lets you download the file, that you have to click at the “right time”, but it all appears to be both a joke, and a play on the fact the site tells you to “Search, search, and start in this web... :-)”.
Some took that to literally mean the download was indeed hidden somewhere, and that it was some kind of puzzle, but even I’ve looked all over the site, and done the “View Source” thing, as have people at
Neowin – and no-one can seem to find it.
It's made some think the "runwin7" site is just trying to pump up its AdSense revenue for the month, which could be unexpectedly happening for the blog owner, seeing as commenters seem to be the ones claiming the download really is there somewhere.
