Trading Post renews bid to outbid eBay - on mobiles!

Opinion and Analysis

The GM of Sensis Mobile, Amanda Brook continued: “These new mobile functionalities, as well being able to search, bid and buy on the fly, make Trading Post an industry leader in the mobile shopping market.

“One of the most exciting developments for Trading Post is it allows us to build a bridge between our print and online worlds enabling buyers and sellers to easily transition from traditional media to digital media and back again.

“Our focus has been on developing an easy to use mobile site that enriches our existing portfolio including some of Australia’s best known information brands: Yellow, White Pages, Whereis, Sensis Search and Citysearch.

“These products enable consumers to access and continue their search wherever they are, and we are seeing great results with more than 2.5 million searches performed across the Sensis mobile products every month.

“In developing the new mobile capability”, Ms Brook concluded by saying “this is a truly Australian product, built by Sensis’ dedicated mobile team in Melbourne."

Trading Post notes that its new announcement “comes almost six months after the reinvigoration of tradingpost.com.au in a move that further establishes Trading Post’s commitment to offering the best shopping experience for Australian buyers and sellers.”

Sensis also says its move supports its position “as a leading mobile content business and demonstrates Sensis’ commitment to developing innovative ways to connect buyers and sellers.”

Specifically designed to optimise the visual display on different mobile handsets, the interface is easy to use, fast and free for all Telstra Next G mobile customers, which presumably means the service is open to any mobile user on any network, but data charges will apply if you’re not a Telstra customer.

Sensis says that to start using Trading Post “on your mobile simply type m.tradingpost.com.au into your mobile browser or for Telstra customers, click on the BigPond portal home tab for free access.”
