Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Microsoft’s Mike Nash contiunues:”Likewise, coming up with an all-new "aspirational" name does not do justice to what we are trying to achieve, which is to stay firmly rooted in our aspirations for Windows Vista, while evolving and refining the substantial investments in platform technology in Windows Vista into the next generation of Windows.
“Simply put, this is the seventh release of Windows, so therefore "Windows 7" just makes sense.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to tell you more about Windows 7 in the coming weeks, and show you how we have continued to build on investments begun in Windows Vista to deliver on the next release of the Windows operating system.

It’s interesting to read some of the comments at the blog posting, some think the idea stupid, others think it’s totally appropriate.
One commenter believes that Windows Millennium Edition was codenamed Millennium, and thus nullifies Windows 7’s claim to be the first version to go from codename to final name, while another quotes the Iron Maiden song featuring lyrics with the word seven in them.
It’s interesting to note that Windows 7 hasn’t even reached its first official beta yet, although by the end of the month we’ll have beta 1 available to those who go to Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference (PDC), and I’m hoping to get my hands on a copy, too.
So, what will Microsoft call the next version of Office? Might they also call it Office 7, just as they gave Office the “XP” denomination when Windows XP was released, or will they give it yet another year number?
I guess we’re yet to see, but for now, the name “Windows 7” is set in stone, and plenty more Windows 7 heaven headlines will surely follow, from me if no-one else, although I'm sure it will be a common theme.
No doubt Linux lovers are set to loudly exclaim that Windows 7 ain't no heaven, but more Windows and Microsoft hell. We'll just have to wait and see!
