eBay rebels react as a major seller on eBay goes bust, issue warning!

Opinion and Analysis

Page 3 of the eBay rebels’ latest letter continues below:

”Last week one of our group trucked a Honda Legend from Melbourne to Perth for $1,100 (nothing to do with eBay) so we can assure you it does not cost $1,400 to send a small quad bike anywhere in Australia.

“In one of the Asher Moses articles it state that EBS sold $1m in the past 3 months. You will find that the actual figure is 3 times greater than this.

“Furthermore, whilst there are about 580 negative feedbacks posted on EBS's profile in the past 4 weeks you should recognise that as EBS pre-sold its stock (despatch promised within 30 days of purchase), we estimate there are likely to be about another 20 days worth of sales (circa 250 more victims) who have yet to realise that EBS has folded and they will not get their purchase and may not get their money back.

“You should consider drilling down on dates. There's a big story in this.

- How long have eBay members known that EBS was going bad?
- How long ago was eBay warned by its own members?
- Why did eBay ignore these warnings?
- Why did eBay not act earlier on to protect its members?
- Exactly when did eBay move to prevent EBS from continuing to sell?

“Answers to all of these questions and more are posted and reposted on eBay's discussion boards but are regularly deleted by eBay's board moderators, and posters are sanctioned to limit reputational damage to eBay. Don't believe this? We can send you eBay's sanctioning emails to prove it.

“Following is an active post on the eBay discussion board (dates back to 8th July) which provides some first hand insight from the victims of EBS and from other eBay members looking on. You should look early on and consider copying anything of interest as eBay, presumably to manager the bad PR, systematically deletes board discussion of this incident. This thread seems to have escaped eBay's attention for now.

“And the following post (a summary of buyer feedback for EBS) has been posted several times on different threads and is also regularly deleted by eBay.

“Here is a list of the comments left by unfortunate buyers in the current eBay buyer protection debacle (all associated with one seller).
