Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Exactly what will happen to Digg if Google buys it is unknown. But despite the “stagnation” of sites like Feedburner or ignoring existing user bases, Digg’s audience is very vocal.
It’s probably THE most vocal collective audience on the Internet, and if Google makes radical changes that users hate, they’re going to hear about it loud and clear.
After all, why would Google spend $200m and then digg themselves into a grave, especially with Reddit, Propeller and a host of other sites that would love to welcome any future disaffected diggers into the fold?
I guess we’ll find out in a few weeks whether Google’s attempt to buy out Digg truly succeeds, or not. Otherwise it might be Microsoft buying out Digg instead, or another as yet unknown dark horse...
Whatever happens, the Digg that we know and love will clearly change once its in new hands. Whether that change is for the good, or not, is yet to be seen, but no new owner would want to be known as the company that stood by and watched while Digg died.
