Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
“On eBay's website however, much of the PayPal
propaganda, continues to imply that payment methods other than PayPal
are not safe and do not have appropriate fraud protection.
“As such eBay are actively discouraging the use of all other payments
methods, (of which Australia Post’s Money Order is one), and in many
instances, have been deleting auctions if a seller states that they
prefer any method other than PayPal.
“When buyers win an auction and go through the checkout process to
pay, they are presented with a large PayPal logo that fills much of the
screen. Buyers have to scroll down to find a small link at the bottom
for "Money Order".
“eBay argue that its dominant push for PayPal is to reduce fraud by
encouraging users of the PayPal service to become Verified. eBay
claims in its user agreement that "Verification, in conjunction with
our other proprietary authentication methods, lowers our company’s

“Meanwhile, they claim in their Disclaimer that: “PayPal shall not be
responsible for any fraud, deception or misrepresentations by Users,

“With all of these contradictory messages from eBay, I am confused
about who I can trust. I understand and applaud the lengths to which
Australia Post Office staff will go to verify the identity of the
presenter of a Money Order and although I have yet to experience the
loss of a Money Order I would like to believe that Australia Post would
honour its promise to reissue the order if the criteria set out in
Australia Post’s Terms and Conditions are met.
