ebay member “kinetika2003kinetika2003” states: “If they [eBay] sign the EFT Code of Conduct then they will be held accountable. Their present position allows them to rake in the dollars without any accountability whatsoever. There's no way they will sign the EFT Code of Conduct unless they are compelled to. It's crazy that a company can get a Financial Services Licence in Australia without having to become a signatory of the EFT Code of Conduct, it should be mandatory!”
In the comments section of an iTWire article entitled: “Rebels strike back at eBay and PayPal through Australian banks”, a commenter called ‘The Democrat' stated: “I call upon everyone to get behind an AUSSIE home grown Paypal alternative, and support PayMate's highly relevant submission to ACCC on the deliberate targeting of Long standing eBay members, under Stage 1.”
The statement continues: “Paymate (which eBay initially promoted) submitted an excellent submission and Conference commentary on Both Stages of EBAYS CONDUCT. Also write to your banks because the same argument applies to their ability to compete fairly.”
Any response to this latest action against eBay and PayPal from either the ACCC or eBay itself has not as yet been made public by either party.
