Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Microsoft also touts its existing games line-up which caters “for young and old”, including Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Lost Odyssey, Blue DragonTM, Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action, Project Gotham Racing 4, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6 and Beautiful Katamari.
But is all of this enough to keep Microsoft sales strong, something that’s essential to keep developers writing new games for the Xbox 360 platform?
Well, price cuts are certainly a powerful way to get those waiting to purchase to tip over the edge and make their decision.
But with 2008 and the next six months set to be an incredibly frenetic time for marketing and sales, especially in the “soft consumer environment” we’re in, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are likely to pull out the biggest guns they have to shock and awe us all.
Will Microsoft’s “motion controller” appear this year? What about the new motion controller that Sony is supposed to be developing? And what is the big secret announcement Nintendo is supposed to be making at this year’s E3?
We’re still living in the golden age of console gaming, and all three companies are doing the best they can to mine the rich golden seam for all its worth, solidifying as much as possible their forays into people’s homes and promising ever better experiences with each new games release.
There has never been a better time to be a gamer, whichever platform, or platforms, you choose to own and play.
