Should you buy an Asus Eee 901 PC?

Opinion and Analysis

So, while the Asus Eee 901 PC is due to hit stores any day now to hit the end of June deadline, and while it will undoubtedly be popular, the playing field isn’t as one-sided as it was when the Asus Eee 701 first landed last November.

Those happy with the form factors of the Eee 701 and 900 but simply wanted a better specification and were hoping for longer battery life shouldn’t wait: the Eee 901 fulfils that requirement.

If you’re in no major rush, the amount of choice grows ever larger, price competition grows ever stronger (in a time of inflation when everything else is going up in price) and already the 701 and 900 series are cheaper than they’ve ever been.

But if you can’t wait and need to buy an ultra portable computer for everyday web work very soon, the Linux or Windows XP version of the Eee PC 901 will do the job, and at AUD $649, won’t break the bank.
