The slated price? US $200-$300. Obviously this unit comes with no screen, and whether it comes with a keyboard or mouse is yet to be seen – perhaps it will be like the Mac Mini which is just the main box and nothing else.
There’s also no word on USB ports, SD card readers, but any Eee Box PC would need some USBs, a VGA video port at least, and likely some headphone and microphone sockets on the back.
What the unit will ultimately cost will surely be the deciding factor on how popular the Eee Box PC will be. After all, it does compete with today's Eee PC 701 series notebook, which can be plugged into a monitor via the VGA port, and used with an external keyboard, mouse and USB hard drive for exactly the same effect.
If it’s too expensive, it won’t be any more attractive than any number of cheap white box PCs you can buy today from any computer vendor, onto which you can load Ubuntu or your operating system of choice.
But the small form factor will be appealing to some. All will be revealed in little more than a week!
