Opera Mini 4.1 for mobiles takes to the stage

Opinion and Analysis

Trying to download one of three different signed versions of Opera Mini 4.1 came up with a certificate error, so clearly with the browser being so very new, not all phones are supported as yet, or are fully supported, but surely it’s something that Opera is working on – although an iPhone version will probably never happen – or at least, until Apple changes its iPhone application rules.

In addition, we’ve logged the seeming incompatibility with the i-mate Ultimate 9502 with Opera so they can get their developers onto the task of making it even more widely compatible. On the Nokia N95, we experienced no such issues.

And in terms of compatibility, Opera Mini has a fine heritage. 2007 saw strong demand for Opera’s embedded browser solution, with 59 handsets being announced with Opera Mini pre-installed.

Altogether, more than 800 different phone models are currently being used by Opera Mini – and there can be no doubt that even wider compatibility is on the way.

All of that said, Opera Mobile for Windows Mobile Smartphones works beautifully on the i-mate Ultimate 9502, providing an even better browsing experiencing, including tabbed browsing, but comes at a small cost, as opposed to Opera Mini 4.1 which is completely free.

Opera says that since 2006, more than 44 million people have “used Opera Mini”, and its certain that with the new Opera Mini 4.1 release, millions more will discover the joys of desktop-class browsing on a mobile phone – without needing to buy an iPhone!

Download Opera Mini 4.1 direct to your mobile phone at www.operamini.com – or experience your own personal guided video tour of all that Opera Mini 4.1 has to offer.

Getting a desktop class browsing experience on most mobiles is one performance you can’t miss, be it morning, noon, matinee or night, thanks to the directors, producers and programmers of what is surely the world’s most popular, independent mobile browser: Opera.
