Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
YouTube says the new programme “also benefits marketers”.
Because YouTube is actively “building out [the] partner programme”, YouTube says that it is “expanding both the quality and scope of video content available to marketers”.
The pitch continues: “As more and more individual content creators enrol in the programme, advertisers are now capable of reaching more qualified consumers by targeting their campaigns to user-generated partner videos tailored to the unique interests and tastes of their target audiences”.
What about all those millions of views? YouTube says: “With millions of videos viewed on YouTube each day, marketers can attain a new level of engagement with some of the most watched videos on the site.”
Which is why adherence to the “Terms of Use” are so important – no marketer wants their brand to be associated with anything that YouTube itself wouldn’t be happy to promote or host, and content creators can be certain that YouTube will police these terms – and the videos posted – most vigilantly.
YouTube says they’ve invited some “prominent YouTube Australia community members to become partners in the new programme”, and highlighted three notable Australian content creators, Hughsnews, AngryAussie and babyporridge.
So, how much can you earn? Well, YouTube tells us that the US version of the programme has proven highly successful for those “who are regularly producing videos with over one million views, some are earning several thousand dollars per month.”
Getting to one million views is tough – your stuff needs to be good. But as with anything in life, quality will be one of the major factors in determining overall success.
Finally, YouTube notes – and hopes – that: “This new programme will improve the YouTube experience by inspiring users to develop more innovative, original content and encouraging marketers to develop interactive ads that are relevant and appealing to the YouTube community.”
So, if you want to capture a piece of the YouTube action for yourself, get your video camera, put your digital camera into video mode, learn how to record video with your mobile phone, or even use a webcam, create a story or do something interesting on a regular basis, get filming, respect copyrights, get published – and turn the YouTube into your own personal MoneyTube!
