Early Vista SP1 64-bit installs causing new problems

Opinion and Analysis

Now as I’ve said in the past, Linux and Macs aren’t perfect either. Macs of late have had some issues with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5, which is now up to 10.5.2. I’m sure Linux users could come up with snafus they’ve experienced, too. But each subsequent snafu compounds the issue.

But you can bet that a few people are wondering just why they’re bothering with an operating system from a company that, of late, just doesn’t seem to care anymore. If they did, SP1 would have been smooth as silk. Instead, SP1 has become about as welcome as a glass of month old goat’s milk.

Why just stop at dubbing SP1 as ‘Snafu Pack 1’? It could easily be ‘Stuff-up Pack 1’. Or for anyone wanting to try a Mac or Linux, we could rename it to ‘Switcher Pack 1’. And while I’m on a roll, why not rename it to ‘Stupid Pack 1’ in honour of the SP1 team that has ballsed things up so badly?

Microsoft – what specifically are you going to do to regain our collective trust? Is there anything you can do? Do you really care? How’s Windows 7 coming along?
