Chronister concluded her blog post by saying: “So… if you bought the HD player like me, I'd retire it to the bedroom, kid’s playroom, or give it to your parents to play their John Wayne standard def movies, and make space for a BD player for your awesome Hi Def experience.  I am probably going to surprise my husband with BluRay player for Father’s Day, so please don’t tell him!”

The comments section under her blog entry makes for interesting reading, with some commenters noting their disappointment at Chronister’s previous exuberance for the HD DVD platform, wishing instead they’d gone Blu.

But “them’s the breaks” in the format wars. Thankfully, they are nearly over – in the world of HD optical movie discs, at least.
