Now, I might be drawing a bit of a long bow here, but today, February 18, Australia's Financial Review newspaper reported that Telstra had shelved a deal with ad agency Publicis Mojo to create a joint venture that would deliver advertiser-funded content to Telstra's eight million mobile customers.

Instead, the paper said, Telstra had set up partnership deals between various ad agencies and its own digital advertising business, MediaSmart. It named the first of these deals as being with Mobile Alliance a mobile phone marketing group set up by some of the giant London based WPP Group's Australian companies.

Now it just so happens that Ogilvy Worldwide is also part of the WPP Group...
