iTunes 9.0.3 fixes minor issues

Opinion and Analysis

The latest version of Apple's iTunes software fixes various minor niggles.

A minor update to iTunes 9 delivers "a number of important bug fixes," according to Apple officials.

I'm not sure how many of them have been causing you problems, but I'll be pleased if iTunes 9.0.3 really does resolve "a problem recognising when iPod is connected" - that's been happening intermittently for some time on my system.

It's not a big deal; after all, it's not like the program is in the habit of crashing when I plug in my iPod. But it is irritating, and I'll be glad to see the back of it.

The other specific fixes are that "iTunes no longer ignores your 'Remember password for purchases' setting" and it "Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod."

I use my iPod almost exclusively for listening to podcasts and I've never noticed any sync problems. Still, I'd lump both of those issues into the same "irritating but not catastrophic" category as recognising when an iPod's been connected.
