Early opening for iPhone 3G S

Opinion and Analysis

Apple Stores will open early on June 26 when the iPhone 3G S goes on sale.

Apple Australia has announced that Apple Stores will open at 8am on Friday June 26, the day the iPhone 3G S goes on sale.

While that's the normal opening time for the flagship Sydney CBD store, the Chadstone, Robina and Doncaster stores usually open at 9am on Fridays, while Chatswood doesn't usually roll up the shutters until 9.30.

"iPhone is sold on a first-come, first served basis," warns Apple, so there's no guarantee you'll get one.

Maybe that's just an attempt to drum up some hype - do you expect there will be the queues we saw when the iPhone 3G went on sale last year? - or perhaps it's just a legal nicety.

If you do buy an iPhone 3G S at an Apple Store, a smiling Apple retail person will be only too happy to activate and set it up for you.
