Opinion and Analysis

Default Folder X (usually $US34.95) enhances the Open and Save dialogs to make it easier to find the folder you need. There's hierarchical menus, default folders for individual applications, tagging, and QuickLook previews in all views.
So there's almost $US70 value for your $US50.
The other inclusions are Cover Stream (Cover Flow on the desktop), DragThing (a Dock alternative), HoudahSpot (a better front end for Spotlight), iPrint (print information selected in any program), Mariner Write (word processor), and Spell Catcher X (spell checking, correction, text expansion, auto-completion and more).
The bonus item is Baseline, a disk space analyser.
All up, that's almost $US270 at normal prices. And remember, unlike some bundles, you get the real deal - the same support and upgrade rights that come with regularly-priced purchases.
There's even a quantity discount. Buy two or more bundles, and you save $US5 on each.
So what do you think? Is this a win-win situation for developers and users, or does it further depress the perceived value of software?
