Unmetered TiVo downloads extend to iPrimus

Opinion and Analysis

The announcement that iPrimus will provide unmetered downloads for TiVo users comes as no surprise.

In March, Internode announced a deal with TiVo operator and Channel 7 associate company Hybrid Television Services to deliver unmetered TiVo data.

At the time, it seemed likely that other ISPs would follow suit, and it didn't take long before we saw the next cab off the rank.

iPrimus has reached a similar arrangement, so their TiVo-using customers will get the EPG, software updates, video content (eg, movies) and so on without eating into their monthly data allowance.

"Our customers do not need to pay twice for a movie experience on a TiVo - now they can purchase a movie download on a TiVo media device confident that the movie size will not impact their monthly data allowance," said iPrimus general manager, marketing and products, Andrew Sims.

"This means our customers can use their broadband data allowance for other internet activities without their TiVo usage counting towards their plan's allowance," he added.

And iPrimus CEO Ravi Bhatia claimed "Our high speed broadband network is ideally suited for fast delivery of content like popular movies on TiVo - at arguably the best prices in Australia today.
