An important point is that such applications would run in any modern, standards-compliant browser without requiring plug-ins, which are an increasingly common source of security vulnerabilities.

So could MobileMe be the real reason why Apple produced a Windows version of Safari?

If so, it could be the real "one more thing" surprise that Steve Jobs had in mind!
