People will pay for a device that works well - note the success of the iPhone 3G, which some observers have described as under-featured compared with competing handsets - there is a limit to how much they will pay.

Apple can't be blind to the way its sales have climbed in recent years since Mac prices became comparable to equivalent PCs from first-tier vendors.

Given Apple's track record in recent years, it seems unlikely that we'll get any solid leads about what's ahead until shortly before the product actually arrives. But until then, there will be no shortage of speculation.
