The case for the new M9 PC case

Opinion and Analysis

I'm not big on bling, but ThermalTake's M9 case caught my eye.

Maybe it's the vague similarity with the Mac Pro case due to the metal mesh on the front panel, but I reckon this one looks pretty swish - especially compared with the beige box sitting under my other desk.

I also find the idea of silent fans and power supply attractive. After getting used to the barely-audible whirr from the iMac, my PC sounds more like a hairdryer when I switch it on.

Nine 5.25in drive bays are overkill for my needs, but there's a lot to be said for being able to keep using you old drive(s) with no additional expense after an upgrade. That's certainly not something you can do with an iMac!

I'm also a fan of tool-free designs when it come to fitting drives or accessory cards, because I've already wasted enough of my life fishing around in the bottom of cases for dropped screws.

Distributed in Australia by Anyware, the M9 retails for $A129.
