Internode drops transfer fee - for now

Opinion and Analysis

Following price cuts to selected ADSL plans, Internode is waiving the usual transfer fee in an attempt to attract more subscribers to switch from their current ISP.

The $A39 fast transfer fee will be dropped for the next seven weeks.

Company officials claim Internode gains high scores for customer satisfaction in national surveys. This assertion is supported by the most recent survey carried out by broadband user site Whirlpool - over 95 percent of Internode-using respondents said they would recommend it to others.

But the company's pricing wasn't so popular. 64 percent of former customers said price was a reason why they left Internode. Only Telstra did worse in that respect, with 77.5 percent.

So when Internode product manager Jim Kellett said "We now have a broader range of more affordable plans, so the free churn offer makes Internode even more attractive," he may well be on the right lines - especially as the company still does not charge for uploads.
