HoudahGeo simplifies this task, whether you're using information from a GPS device or determining the location with Google Earth or Google Maps. The results can be exported to a Google Earth file.

Version 1.4.2 of this €25 application brings it into better compliance with Apple's human interface guidelines. The most recent major update added support for Google Earth, Lightroom libraries, and the use of serial to USB converters for connecting a GPS device.
