Logitech gets mouse house in freewheeling order

Opinion and Analysis

A new mouse design from peripherals maker Logitech, called the MX Revolution, enables users to use new controls that enable them to scroll through documents quickly and zoom in and out of images and documents with a click.

The first control, which is being described as revolutionary by observers, enables users to spin the scroll wheel, called MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel for several seconds, allowing them to scroll through thousands of lines of text automatically. The mouse also has a second thumb wheel that can be used for zooming or toggling between active applications.

Finally, the coup de grace is a feature that enables users to highlight words and do a one click web search on them.

While I can't personally see the benefit of scrolling through tens of thousands of lines text that I'll never read, no doubt there are many users that will find the functions useful.

Logitech has also released a smaller version of its new device for notebooks called the VX.
