Opinion and Analysis
October 2007 is a very special month for the team here at iTWire because it marks our second anniversary.
Over the past two years, since telecoms editor
Stuart Corner and I put our two titles BeerFiles and Exchange Alert
together to form iTWire, a lot has happened and our growth has been
incredible.
We now have a team of 12 regulars plus a number of guest contributors
and, if content is king on the Web, then iTWire, with nearly 15,000
indexed articles in a database that grows daily, surely must be heading
to towards scoring a crown.
Recognizing the importance of having the best possible range of
technology content on our site to meet the diverse needs of readers
that range from tech heads to CIOs, we have built a team of writers
that is second to none.
Stuart and I have nearly 50 years experience writing technology issues
between us and, of course, Stuart's telecoms expertise is second to
none and widely recognized.
However, we are exceptionally fortunate to be able to bring you regular
articles and blogs from resident talents such as gadgets guru Alex
Zaharov-Reutt (if its not hanging around his neck, it's obsolete);
David M Williams (who divides his time between being a corporate CIO
and penning articles about Linux); Sam Varghese (a super open source
blogger otherwise disguised as a mild mannered sub-editor for a daily
metropolitan newspaper); gamer king Mike Bantick (who leads a team that
keeps the networks of banks running smoothly when he's not writing
about Halo, GTA, and consoles); Stephen Withers (a former banking IT
pro that has been writing about Apple longer than many fanboys have
lived); our US science writer William Atkins (a former NASA engineer
who has forgotten more about space than most of us will ever know); and
a number of experienced part-time contributors such as, Adam Turner,
Angus Kidman and Tony Austin.
With such a team of talented writers, it is little wonder that in two
years iTWire has grown into a site that often achieves more than 1
million visitors a month.
However, as we move into our third year, we don't intend to rest on our
laurels. Recognizing that many of our readers come from all over the
world, we intend to build an international editorial team covering all
the major time zones. In the world of technology, the news happens 24 x
7 and that's the way iTWire intends to operate.
Finally, we wish to thank you our readers for your support and helping us to make our site the success it has become.
