Gaming on Ubuntu Linux

Opinion and Analysis

GCompris is an installable suite of games that is aimed at children between the ages of about 2-10.

GCompris is a large collection of educational games for small children.
Currently available boards include:
* learning how to use a mouse and keyboard
* learning simple arithmetics
* learning how to read an analog clock
* recognize letters after hearing their names
* reading practice
* small games (memory games, jigsaw puzzles, ...)

In addition to all of these installable games, the default install of Ububtu Linux comes with a number of pre-installed games. These include mostly simple but fun and addictive games such as puzzle, card, chess and Tetris like games.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find any sort of games that have anything to do with the Olympics!

Now when you mention to your gaming friends that you have begun to use Linux, and they scoff at you and say that you can't play games on Linux, you can tell them that is not true anymore!

In my next article I want to talk about the differences between the Windows and Ububntu Linux user interface and how the Linux GUI can make you more productive.

As always thanks for reading to the end and feel free to leave feedback and comments. I imagine that this article might generate some interest, so please register and voice your opinions! I do appreciate them all.
