Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
So, now that we have looked at where things are, what happens when you install an application? If you use Add/Remove Applications or the Synaptic package manage installer (see this previous article) then the package manager looks after the placement of all the files for you. If you decide to uninstall, then it removes all the files from the right locations. It becomes something that, after a while, you just don't think about.
As a user, if you create a file, then you can save it into the /home/<your user name here> folder. There are a few sub-folders that Ubuntu puts in there: Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, etc which makes it pretty easy to organise. It also means that when you want to re-install your system or move to another system, then you only have to back up one folder.
Working full-time for the last few weeks and the wonderful Tour de France have taken their toll on my article writing abilites!
