Apart from the matter of different JavaScript versions, and a new version in the pipeline to further muddy the waters, quite a few visitors have JavaScript disabled in their browser, for whatever reason (security concerns, or whatever). In the above snapshot it's 7 percent, or about 1 in every 15 users. This highlights a troublesome web design and coding issue. One of the foundations of an increasing number of sites is use of the AJAX design approach (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML), so the mere fact that you can't depend on everybody having JavaScript running is an ongoing worry.

What about the penguin? My tracking over the years indicates that the Linux share is gradually growing. Yet which of the many Linux distributions, and which version(s) of each distro, is another matter. But it still looks like Linux is far below the combined count for Windows 2000 and later versions, thankfully with Windows 9X no longer significant.
