This
is an exceptional opportunity to join one of the largest Financial
Services organisations in the world, as part of an exciting new oracle
production and development DBA team. This Global team is experiencing
dramatic growth with the constant launch of new projects and the update
⁄ maintenance of an organisation wide system that will provide a single
view and transaction platform for business units. The group is set to become one of the largest and most advanced
Oracle teams in the region and works very closely with Oracle (San
Fran) to implement the latest technology and functionality available.
In this meritocracy the group are always looking bring on and engage
strong developers with the right technical problem solving ability and
professional attitude. This newly developed contract role is initially a production DBA
role that will be moving towards a development DBA position so requires
a talented Oracle professional with a diverse skill set and robust
problem solving ability. This is a highly complex environment and a
global team that is responsible for all new deployments, which will
require you to draw on experience working on complex projects, frequent
interactions with the business and a record of delivering objectives
within tight deadlines. Responsibilities include: - Day to Day Production DBA tasks
- Take ownership of Oracle issues
- Define database ⁄ user access requirements
- Produce efficient and well structured PL⁄SQL routines
- To become the acknowledged domain expert for Oracle issues
- Perform in an environment that requires a professional 'can do'
attitude, flexibility, problem solving, delegation and strong
interpersonal skills
Technical skills required include: - Understanding of Project lifecycles
- Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle database technologies
- 2 years+ PL⁄SQL Programming Experience,
- 2 years+ as an Oracle DBA,
- Ability to enforce and maintain PL⁄SQL programming standards,
particularly whilst under pressure of time constraints and conflicting
requirements
- Knowledge of XML technologies
- Advanced SQL tuning skills - tkprof, explain plan, indexing (Desirable)
- Exposure to advanced PL⁄SQL features (Oracle types, arrays, objects) (Desirable)
- Experience with GUI tools e.g. Toad (Desirable)
Non technical skills required include: - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Self sufficient, highly motivated, resourceful individual
- Ability to quickly identify and respond to changing requirements
- Be a problem owner and solver with a logical approach to resolving issues
- Demonstrated record as a strong and proactive team player
