UNIX System Administrator Job Reference 897

  • Solaris 10, Veritas suite environment

This growing Investment Banking organisation is seeking an experienced UNIX Solaris SA to join their Sydney CBD team. The team is responsible for the installation, monitoring, management and support of all UNIX servers across the Australia⁄NZ business and are also part of the wider Asia Pacific team. 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Production support of UNIX servers for the Global Markets front and back office, the Asset Management Business and all other Cross Business IT Departments.
  • Support and consultancy for the Development and UAT UNIX Environments, Backup and Storage Products and Disaster Recovery.
  • Automation of process utilising your scripting (ideally Perl) skills
  • Ongoing BAU and Project work
  • Providing support in a rotating shift environment between 7.30am and 7pm with on call support as part of a APAC roster
Technical skills required include:
  • Solaris 10
  • Veritas suite of products including  - VxVM, VxFS & VCS,
  • NIS⁄DNS⁄DHCP
  • Network protocols (TCP⁄IP)
  • Shell scripting (ksh,  perl)
  • Samba⁄Kerberos⁄ssh
You will bring:
  • Solaris Admin experience in a large production environment,
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities
  • Worked with servers communicating through firewalls and have a full understanding of firewalls down to port⁄protocol level.
  • A good understanding of the demands of supporting servers in mission-critical environments such as those in the Banking⁄ Financial sector.
  • Experience in providing and supporting Service Continuity (DR).
  • Ideally gained experience as part of a global or regional organization.
  • Ability to handle rapidly changing and competing priorities
