This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the up and coming Financial Services organisations in Asia. The organisation translates promising potential business opportunities into profitable global market operations, through use of its extensive knowledge base gained from trading activities and business culture. They are currently looking to build on their core competency in Technology with three additional Java Developers (1x Core Java Developer and 1x Rapid Application Developers).

The development groups are a Mecca for talented programmers with experience or strong interest in providing real time market making ⁄ algorithmic solutions within Financial Markets. They are responsible for scoping, producing, maintaining and developing a number of finance trading applications that are used both locally and globally. These systems have been developed mostly in Java but due to the variety in coding of source information, they require a robust programmer with diligent problem solving ability. 

The purpose of this role is to understand the needs of the business and provide capacity increasing tools to support the dynamic team of traders in the Sydney office.These newly created positions are placed in a flat structured environment that will allow close interactions with Traders, Business Analysts and regional teams, requiring the individuals to have very good communication skills at all levels of the business.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining real time trading and analysis tools for the traders
• Developing and maintaining tools to capture & manipulate information from exchanges, market data and news providers
• Working closely with traders and other business users to capture requirements and to proactively spot automation opportunities
• Working together with development teams in Asia and Europe
• Balancing rapid application development demands with designing and building quality, scalable trading architecture that meets the short and longer term needs of the business

Technical skills required include:

• Experience with a variety of programming languages (must include at least one of Java, C# or C++)
• Strong design principles, including experience with Object Oriented methodologies
• Knowledge of Excel including VBA, macro and add-in development
• Database experience including knowledge of SQL
• Knowledge of Financial Markets is an advantage, and a passion for the industry is essential
