Our client is a looking to create a new Sydney based Infrastructure Team, part of a global Follow The Sun (FTS) group which is aligned to the trading desks. The team will consist of UNIX Systems Administrators, WINTEL Engineers and Database Administrators (Oracle AND Sybase). Mirroring and complementing the existing teams overseas, this group will take ownership for all Infrastructure related issues across the Australian and Asia Pacific operations, liaising closely with European and American divisions.

As the new team is being created from scratch, this Global Investment Bank is targeting the very best candidates that the Sydney market has to offer. You will have previous experience in either the Investment Banking⁄ Financial Services or similar high pressured, complex, results focused environments.

These multiple newly created positions have been demanded by the business as the organisation looks to ensure its future dominance and revenues, in the Equity Markets. We are looking for experienced Team Leaders  ⁄ Technical Leads, Middle Ranged and Junior (Min 2 Years) Information Technology Professionals in four areas of specialism:

Unix System Administrators

• Operating Systems - UNIX : Solaris 8-10 : RedHat 2.1,3
• Sun, Fujitsu, IBM and HP Hardware
• Veritas - Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster, Veritas FD, QuickIO
• Ongoing Unix Project Work
• Application Release Implementation - Post Implementation Reviews
• Experienced in Performance and Tuning Analysis

Wintel Engineers ⁄ Systems Administrators

• Excellent knowledge of the Windows operating environment
• Experience working on HP Proliant⁄IBM Blade hardware and its dependencies on software.
• Excellent understanding and knowledge of Windows related components (Active Directory, VB, LDAP, or WSH scripting, TCP⁄IP, Network theory, Name Resolution, MSCS, Reskit)
• Conceptual understanding of SAN technology and working knowledge of host connectivity integration
• Experience of Veritas products such as Netbackup and Volume Manager an advantage.

Sybase Database Administrators

• Very strong Sybase ASE (1192, 12, 125)
• Sybase Replication Server V12
• Strong Perl, Shell, Solaris, Linux, SQL
• Proven Performance and Tuning ability
• Strong UNIX Understanding & command line skills
• Debugging script and stored procedure code

Oracle Database Administrators

• Oracle DBA experience in a Sun-Solaris Unix ⁄ Linux environ.
• Experience with Oracle 9i, 10g
• High Level PL⁄SQL
• Good working knowledge of Solaris 8, 9 and ideally 10
• Shell scripting and programming

This team is required to provide innovative solutions to service delivery issues, as they coordinate with cross functional teams. This is an environment where every second counts and a sense of urgency about your work should be instinctive. Due to the requirement of the group to support the whole APAC region, the Sydney team will be split into two shifts, allowing extra capacity for cover as well as implementations.
