ACCC revamps comms division to focus on NBN and convergence

IT Policy - Regulation

The ACCC has restructured its Communications Group to create a new branch focussed on the NBN and related issues and another on convergence and mobility.

The Communications Group, headed by its long-serving general manager, Michael Cosgrave, now comprises three branches: NBN Engagement and Industry Compliance, headed by general manager Sean Riordan; Access Operations and Pricing, headed by Robert Wright and Convergence Coordination and Mobility headed by Rob Nicholls.

These new branches replace the Compliance and Regulatory Operations Branch, previously headed by Wright, and the Strategic Analysis and Development Branch, formerly headed by Richard Home.

In addition to its specific focus in the NBN the new structure represents a significant elevation of convergence: it was previously a sub branch with the Strategic Analysis and Development branch.

The new NBN branch comprises three sections: NBN Co Access Co-ordination headed by Cathryn McArthur; Industry Structure headed by Ed Seymour and Enforcement, Compliance And Record Keeping register design, headed by Kate Hebbard (acting).

Within the new Convergence branch are the Transmission and facilities access section headed by Grahame O'Leary; The mobile and Spectrum Section headed by Tara Morice and the Broadcasting and Content Section headed by Jordana Hunter.

The new structure can be found here. The old organisation structure at the time of writing was still on ACCC's web site here.
