Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Telstra has lodged a submission to the Government's taskforce on reducing the regulatory burden on business.
In it Telstra details the regulatory burden imposed on the telecoms industry in general and on it in particular and calls for this burden to be lightened considerably.
Telstra concludes that: "The Taskforce...has an important role to play in creating a more positive environment for business investment and resultant increased levels of economic activity through improvement of the quality of existing and future regulation," and Telstra "looks forward to a future where there is greater recognition that market forces deliver the best results for consumers, with a consequential reduction in the regulatory burden that is currently tying industry – and especially Telstra – up in unnecessary red tape."
In the appendices Telstra details of specific regulations it says are redundant, ineffective, excessive, or duplicated in other jurisdictions. The submission can be downloaded from here.
