IT Policy - Regulation

The final annual reports of the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) and the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) have been tabled in Parliament.

The 2004-05 reports of the two organisations were prepared by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) which was formed from the merger of the two agencies on 1 July 2005.

Acting ACMA chair, Lyn Maddock, claimed that establishment of ACMA would "enable a coordinated regulatory response to converging technologies and services in areas as diverse as spectrum management and content regulation."

She added, "The hard work by members and staff of both organisations during the year ensured a smooth transition into the new agency for staff of both former agencies"
