TelstraClear welcomes planned legislation amendments

IT Policy - Regulation

TelstraClear has welcomed announcements by New Zealand's communications minister of plans to amend the Telecommunications Act 2001 saying that the proposed changes will improve the regulatory process so consumers see the benefits more quickly. TelstraClear regulatory and industry affairs manager, Grant Forsyth, said the proposals were a sign of the government's confidence in the office of the Telecommunications Commissioner and had sensibly, avoided proposals to 'second guess' Commission decisions. "We have been seeking a regulatory environment that is more transparent and that delivers equivalent services without delay. Today's announcement signals changes that should speed up the regulatory process and that can only be good for customers."
