More new jobs for Victorian IT sector

IT Policy - Government Tech Policy

The Victorian Government has welcomed the impending investment and expansion in Victoria by professional services firm, Cordelta, which has committed to creating 50 new jobs in the state by the end of 2013.

The Victorian Minister for Technology, Gordon Rich-Phillips, said Cordelta's decision to invest significant resources and expand its presence in the state was a significant boost to the Victorian economy and the state's reputation as a dynamic technology hub.

The Minister said the announcement by Cordelta, as a professional services firm that helps organisations unlock greater productivity from their management, technology and people, builds on recent technology-related investments supported by the Coalition Government, including 'attracting the Asia-Pacific headquarters of Attachmate and Zendesk, the Australian headquarters of VanceInfo and the establishment of the Australian Broadband Applications Laboratory.'

'This announcement follows the release of Victoria's Technology Plan for the Future - Information and Communication Technology - an $85 million plan to promote ICT-enabled innovation and support the growth of internationally competitive and recognised ICT businesses, such as Cordelta,' Mr Rich-Phillips said.

'The Victorian Coalition Government is investing in the ICT sector to ensure that the right conditions exist in Victoria to support the growth of ICT businesses and boost Victoria's digital economy.'

Cordelta's announcement of the company's Victorian expansion was made by Cordelta managing director, Ken Gutterson, who said the company's vision was to be the 'supplier of choice for commercial government organisations in their efforts to deliver value for money services and achieve higher levels of performance, compliance and customer satisfaction.'

'We are confident that our experience and approach will generate new ideas and opportunities for organisations across Victoria, as well as providing the support they need to deliver cost-effective business improvements.'
