Local government contract win for ViaIP

IT Policy - Government Tech Policy

The Shoalhaven City Council in New South Wales has contracted national network service provider, ViaIP, to upgrade their data network with the installation of a premium MPLS based wide area network with enhanced data services and quality of service to support VOIP.

ViaIP’s business development manager, Heath Donald, said today that the network “carefully designed” for the Shoalhaven council would allow sites to communicate with each other more effectively.  “QoS is enabled on the network which maximises bandwidth efficiencies giving key applications the protection required to perform day in and day out. This means critical applications such as VoIP will have priority over the network.”

Shoalhaven’s IT manager,  John Lenehan, said the ViaIP upgrade to the council’s network would improve business practices across the council, and the architecture’s in-built redundancy would provide business continuity and use of a back up link in times of emergency.

ViaIP says it won the contract with Shoalhaven Council’s after a lengthy and competitive tender process administered by PABX Advisory Services.
