A new TV advert has plainly stated that McCain, the 72
year old McCain, is locked in the past. It starts with the word 1982,
which is when McCain was elected to Congress, and uses imagery such as
huge cellphones and a Rubik's Cube to give the impression of a dated
politician.
The unflattering images of McCain wearing a bad
suit and worse glasses only add to the retro feel. But things start to
get real serious real soon.
“Things have changed in the last 26 years, but McCain hasn't. He admits
he still doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an e-mail,
still doesn't understand the economy and favors $200 billion in new tax
cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class. After
one president who was out of touch, we just can't afford more of the
same."
The Republicans have responded by arguing that McCain travels with a
laptop and inaccurate to say McCain can't send an email. The same
spokesperson would not, however, confirm if McCain actually uses email
though.
The Democrats, meanwhile, are standing by the message in the adverts,
including the email claim. McCain is “unable to address the challenges
facing the country in the 21st century” a spokesperson said, adding
“It’s extraordinary that someone who wants to be our President and our
Commander in Chief doesn’t know how to send an email.”
On the other hand, the USA has had 8 years to get used to a lamer being in charge of the country...
