Which sector achieved the lowest score? Transport and distribution, with 36%. IT was second lowest on 38%, and it also had the highest proportion (49%) of respondents saying their boss had not done a good job preparing them for future success.
So it seems the idea that you need to manage your own career development is especially true for IT workers.

And it appears that IT workers aren't particularly impressed by their employers generally, as they gave them the lowest overall rating (5.7) of all sectors. Contact centres & customer service came out on top with an average score of 7.1, followed by business services on 6.9.
Government and travel & leisure tied for third place on 6.8.
