VMware signs up Dimension Data for Aussie training

VMware has signed an agreement with Dimension Data which it says is a step towards meeting a rising demand for virtualization technology skills amidst a shortage of IT skills in the Australian market.

Paul Harapin, vice president of VMware Australia and New Zealand, Paul Harapin, says Dimension Data Learning Solutions (DDLS) has signed up as a VMware authorised training centre in Australia to offer VMware certified training courses to customers, channel partners and the general public on a range of different levels.

Harapin says the courses, which take up to five days to complete, officially recognise and grade skill levels using VMware virtualization technology, and represent another step the company is taking to meet rising demand for skills in virtualization technology in the region.

“We recently certified our 1000th VCP in Australia and we are pleased to be partnering with DDLS to offer a greater number of IT professionals in Australia the opportunity to become VMware certified.”
 
According to Harapin, virtualization technology has been one of the fastest growing and evolving sectors within the IT industry in recent years and, he said, “VMware has been at the forefront of the growth and success of assisting Australian companies realise the business benefits of virtualization in Australia and we are committed to ensuring our technology can be managed by the best staff through expanding our training programs.”

DDLS general manager, David Gage, says the decision to become a VMware authorised training centre was made to assist students and IT professionals build a greater understanding of VMware technology and a higher level of recognised skills with its virtualization technology.

“VMware is recognised as the leader in virtualization and it was only natural we coordinate our efforts with them to meet the demands of Australian IT professionals seeking to advance their career. We are pleased to be offering a number of new courses in emerging technologies, which will help keep Australia at the forefront of virtualization enablement.”
 
Harapin says VMware is committed to developing its Australian and New Zealand training program to cater to the specific needs of local markets and IT staff, and, he added, the company saw its training program as a key opportunity to help develop Australia’s “world leading talent pool of IT and virtualization professionals.”
