Employer sentiment in Australia’s information technology sector has increased to the highest level recorded since April 01, according to the latest Hudson Report Employment Expectations survey released by recruitment firm Hudson.
A survey of 7,614 employers nationally by Hudson showed that 48.6% of
those in the IT sector expect to increase permanent employment levels
in the July – September 06 quarter, while only 3.2% expect to reduce
staffing levels, translating to a net effect of +45.4%, an increase of
6.6 percentage points (pp) from the April – June 06 quarter.
IT employer sentiment for the July – September 06 quarter is the
highest of any industry nationally and is 6.3pp more optimistic than
during the same period a year earlier.
According to Martin Retschko, Director of the Information Technology
& Telecommunications sector for Hudson, the continued resilience in
demand is being driven by IT system upgrades and implementation
projects, particularly in the ACT and Victoria.
