The Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games is on the prowl, through its official recruiter, for information technology specialists to work on a variety of projects for the event.Hudson, the official recruiter and a sponsor for the Games, is seeking to fill approximately 35 IT roles for the upcoming event, ranging from venue technology managers, assistant avenue technology managers, to timing, scoring and results professionals and technicians. Some of the roles include working within the Athlete's Village, on tour with the Queen's Baton Relay, and within large scale, high profile venues within the Melbourne metropolitan area.
Andrew Staite, general manager for Hudson in Victoria, said that this will be a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' for IT professionals with the right skills.
'This is a unique opportunity for professionals in the IT sector to become involved in this world class event. We are expecting competition to be quite fierce for these roles, given the appeal of playing such an important part in the running of the Games," said Staite

Position start dates will vary between September 2005 and February 2006, and Hudson says it is typically looking for people who have a proven track record in planning and implementing technology across organisations. Experience in large scale projects and an ability to build strong relationships in a complex environment will be essential.
