Alcatel Australasia CEO Hilary Mine to head Alcatel-Lucent Australasia

Following the merger of Alcatel and Lucent Technologies, Hilary Mine, the current head of Alcatel Australia and New Zealand, has been appointed CEO of Alcatel-Lucent Australasia covering Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

The company has given no indication of the future of the current head of Lucent in Australia, Roger Derrien, nor have any other senior positions been announced.

Mine, a US citizen, became the first non-engineer and the first woman to head the Australian company when she was appointed in October 2005. Before that she was the senior vice president, Alcatel North America marketing and channels. She also had responsibility for all market analysis, intelligence and strategy activities for the region.

She joined Alcatel from the industry analyst firm Probe Research where she was executive vice president, with responsibility for providing tactical and strategic guidance to global technology companies and service providers in areas including market timing, product marketing, competitive analysis, and strategic customer focus. Hilary has also held senior analyst and management positions with Intel and the Gartner Group.
