Network management vendor Opengear has appointed John McNulty to its board of directors.

"We are pleased to welcome John McNulty, a very technology seasoned executive, to our Board," said CEO Rick Stevenson.

"John will bring technology expertise, large organisation experience and perspective that will be critical as Opengear grows.

"His involvement and oversight will help propel the company to a new level, and his interest in joining us underscores the potential of our organisation."

Mr McNulty is currently president and chief executive officer of public safety software provider InterAct.

His previous executive positions include chairman, president and CEO at Secure Computing; senior vice president of marketing, services and business development at Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories; and general manager of memory and micro systems at Intel.

He also worked for Rose Communications, Integrated Solutions, Computer Consoles, and Honeywell Information Systems.

"Opengear is an impressive company and has achieved solid growth to date," said Mr McNulty.

"I'm eager to work with Opengear to provide further stewardship as the company transitions to the next phase of growth."
